THE THREE ESSENTIALS
After years of clinical practice Dr. Tan has discovered that many difficult disorders are based on one or more of these factors : Timing/Seasonal Factors, Environmental Factors and Constitutional Personality Factors.
Some of Dr. Tan's previous classes have discussed the importance of "Timing" when devising a treatment. "Seasonal Balance" and "Balancing the Five Elements " are two classes that utilize the Ba Gua in order to devise treatments. Now Dr. Tan has advanced this science by using an individual's Ba-Zi chart to create a unique and individualized treatment. It is like a fingerprint that is unique only to that person so it is based on their personal timing versus seasonal timing. Dr. Tan admits that this is his most advanced invention to date. The classes will go into the deeper levels of Chinese Theory based on the relationship of the Ba Gua and the Five Elements associated with an individual patient's birth data (the year, day, month and time of a person's birth). In ancient times, Chinese research in this field was known as "Ba Zi" (4 Pillars). Dr. Tan's teachings will expand on the traditional usage and discuss the birth data in relation to medicine, health and healing. He will teach you how to look at a patient's personal chart and devise acupuncture treatments and herbal formulas with this individualized knowledge. When dealing with complex clinical cases, it is best to look at the constitutional tendencies that a person has inherent in their birth chart which can be balanced with acupuncture and herbs. Dr. Tan strongly believes that if you hit a plateau in some cases when using the Balance Method, you need to look at these deeper levels. This is especially important in patients with shen disorders, chronic complaints and recurring problems.
A patient's birth data helps us identify personality characteristics and emotional tendencies which affect both physical and emotional health. Each of the branches and stems on a chart are connected to specific elements (wood, fire, earth, water, metal). Dr. Tan will teach this complex system of reading and understanding charts in relation to Chinese Medicine. This is an advanced practice which requires a commitment on the student's part to learn certain Chinese characters .
In addition, Dr. Tan will look at how environmental design relates to the five elements and also relates to patient health. For instance, if you are not getting the expected results with your treatments, the patient may need to make some shifts to their home or work environment for complete resolution of their disorders. Dr. Tan will also incorporate advanced Chinese philosophy about how a person's negative patterns of thinking and their relationships also affect health. All of these aspects must be considered when devising treatments, especially in chronic and difficult cases. Dr. Tan feels it is necessary to teach all of these aspects since western medical advancements will be able to heal many diseases on a physical organ level in the future, yet we as practitioners must focus on prevention of disease as well as mental/emotional wellbeing.
This series is limited in size and is taught like a hands-on workshop. You are encouraged to bring your birth info (date, time, place of birth) so that you can practice analyzing your own chart in the class. Dr. Tan will be going over cases in the class so you may also want to bring the birth info of a difficult patient so you can practice as well. There will be many demos and discussion in order to assist in a deeper level of learning and understanding.
Dr. Tan is thrilled to bring this knowledge to his students and to combine his love of Chinese Philosophy with his love for Chinese Medicine. While Dr. Tan loves to lecture around the world about the effectiveness of the Balance Method, his true passion is the harmony of the Three Essentials. He feels this is where the deeper levels of healing occur on the physical, emotional and mental levels. Join him in a series of intense, fun and groundbreaking workshops designed to delve into the deeper levels of Chinese Medicine. The classes will no doubt be exciting and will intensify your love for Chinese Medicine. Change your outlook on your life, your patients and your practice!
